Akron holds on for 24-17 win over Miami (Ohio)

Jawon Chisholm ran for three touchdowns as Akron held on for a 24-17 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday.

Akron (2-6, 1-3 Mid-American) led 24-7 midway through the fourth quarter but Miami (0-7, 0-3) made it a one-possession game after a 44-yard touchdown pass from Austin Boucher to Dawan Scott and a 52-yard field goal from Kaleb Patterson. Miami then attempted an onside kick but the Zips recovered and ran out the clock.

Chisholm finished with 86 yards on 16 carries, scoring all three of Akron's touchdowns. Chisholm's first touchdown came on a 2-yard run on Akron's opening drive after a blocked punt by Andrew Pratt gave the Zips the ball at the Miami 13-yard line. Chisholm then scored on touchdowns runs of 8 yards and 1 yard on back-to-back drives in the third quarter.

Austin Boucher threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns for the RedHawks.
