Air Force football coach Troy Calhoun signs 5-year extension

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) Air Force football coach Troy Calhoun has agreed to a new five-year contract that runs through 2019.
Calhoun is 59-44 in eight seasons at the academy with seven bowl appearances. The Falcons have won three of the last five Commander-In-Chief trophies.
The Falcons went 10-3 last season and beat fellow 10-win teams Boise State and Colorado State. Their win over the 21st-ranked Rams marked the highest-ranked team Air Force has beaten since 1996.
Outgoing athletic director Hans Mueh said Calhoun ''has been a great inspiration to our future Air Force officers. His priorities in coaching are clearly in line with the goals of the Air Force Academy.''
Air Force's graduation success rate of 93 is the highest in the Mountain West Conference and among the three service academies.
