ACC Announces New Location for Conference Football Championship Game

The Atlantic Coast Conference recently announced that the 2016 ACC Football Championship will be played in Orlando after moving the game from Charlotte.
After removing all neutral site championship games from North Carolina, the ACC recently announced the new location of the biggest game. The conference will hold it’s football championship game at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando this year.
The Atlantic Coast Conference has a previous relationship with the Camping World Stadium Bowl, which hosts the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl and the Russell Athletic Bowl featuring ACC teams. They also hosted Florida State’s neutral site nonconference game against Ole Miss at the beginning of the season.
This will be the first time the ACC Football Championship game will be in Orlando, but the event has been previously been hosted in Florida in Jacksonville (2005-2007) and Tampa Bay (2008-2009). Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC has hosted the last six conference football title games including Duke’s first appearance in the ACC Championship in 2013. The event was moved from Charlotte due to North Carolina’s HB2 law which also forced the Duke men’s basketball team to replace their first opponent of the regular season.
Duke Football is currently sitting at 4th in the ACC Coastal Division with an 0-1 conference record. The Blue Devils still have a shot to make it to the title game if they continue playing well. Duke will face their first division opponent this weekend competing against last-place Virginia.
