A mismatch, Andrews has chance for big impact as inside receiver

Baker Mayfield, the Texas Tech transfer battling to take over as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, recently compared tight end Mark Andrews to former Red Raiders star Jace Amaro, who now plays for the New York Jets.
In the Sooners' new Air Raid offense, Andrews won't be your traditional blocking tight end, but rather a pass-catching inside receiver. And at 6-foot-6, 247 pounds, he can be nightmare for linebackers in coverage.
"He’s a guy that I compare to Jace Amaro,” Mayfield said of Andrews. “Big guy, tall but he can run and catch. He can be used in line but you can split him out and he’s a versatile guy that’s going to be a key part (of the offense).”
Andrews caught two passes for 56 yards in the Sooners' spring game, suggesting the big target has big-play capability and will be given the chance to make plays in the open field.
Considering Blake Bell had 16 catches all of last season, Andrews' potential is an exciting element in OU's new offense.
