World boxing federation lifts suspension of SKorea

The International Boxing Association has lifted the suspension of South Korean amateur fighters, clearing the way for them to compete at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China in November and the 2012 London Olympics.
The country's Olympic committee said in a statement Friday that the association, known as AIBA, said it would also lift suspension of the Korean Amateur Boxing Federation once its new president and leadership is elected on Sept. 30.
The move came a week after AIBA decided to provisionally exclude the Korean Amateur Boxing Federation after it said its former president Yoo Jae-joon caused serious damage to the body's image and reputation.
AIBA has said Yoo ''manipulatively and intentionally'' disrupted AIBA's competition procedures and investigations and also bribed members for votes during elections.
Yoo resigned from the post earlier this month amid a dispute over his qualifications.
AIBA made the decision during an executive committee meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday and informed the Olympic committee on Friday, the statement said.
