According to WBC president Jose Sulaiman, representatives of defending flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (81-3-1, 44 KOs) and former junior flyweight champ Edgar Sosa (43-6, 26 KOs) have 30 days to reach an agreement before the mandated title bout is put up for purse bid.

Wonjongkam, the two-time flyweight champ from Thailand, has made a total of 21 successful defenses over two his two reigns and is a combined 21-1-1 in world title fights. The veteran has been a part of the WBC flyweight title scene since winning his first world title in 2001.

Sosa, as WBC junior flyweight champ, made ten successful defenses of his strap before dropping the belt in 2009 to Rodel Mayol via controversial TKO 2 in a foul-filled, abbreviated contest that saw Sosa forced to undergo surgery to repair the damage caused by a Mayol head butt. Sosa, a native of Mexico City, is 6-0 with five KOs since the injury.
