Ward in hospital after dog bite

Former boxer Micky Ward, who was portrayed by Mark Wahlberg in Oscar-winning film "The Fighter," was looking forward to getting out of a hospital Sunday after suffering a dog bite last week.
Ward, a former WBU light welterweight champion, was walking his dog near his home in Lowell, Mass., when it started fighting with another dog, his agent Nick Cordasco told the Boston Globe.
The 45-year-old stuck his hand between the two animals in an attempt to stop the fight but had his right ring finger bitten.
"They got his finger pretty bad," Cordasco said.
Ward received stitches and was being held at the hospital until Sunday for tests.
"The Fighter," based on the life of Ward and his half-brother and former trainer Dicky Eklund, was nominated for seven Academy Awards this year, with Christian Bale winning Best Supporting Actor and Melissa Leo Best Supporting Actress.
