UFC 170-pound champion Georges St. Pierre has suffered a knee injury in training and will need at least a month to recover, according to UFC president Dana White.
St. Pierre has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled Oct. 29 title defense against Carlos Condit in UFC 137. Condit has been pulled from the card as well and apparently will wait until St. Pierre is healthy instead of taking another fight.
The main event on the UFC 137 card in Las Vegas will now be Nick Diaz vs. BJ Penn, still scheduled for three rounds.
St. Pierre has sprained his medial collateral ligament and apparently will be sidelined for four to six weeks. The fight with Condit is going to be rescheduled for the first quarter of 2012, but no firm date is set.
