After talk of potential move to Cincinnati, UFC 115 this June is staying put in Vancouver.
The Canadian city will host its first-ever UFC event on June 12.
According to the Vancouver Sun, city officials held a three-hour emergency council meeting late Tuesday night to reach an agreement about the legal liability of holding a mixed martial arts event in the British Columbian city.
The event was jeopardized after concerns were raised about competitors suing the city if there was an injury or other accident.
A two-year pilot program to regulate MMA events was approved in December. Other stipulations were later added including a requirement for promoters to post a $12 million event bond.
UFC 115 will mark the fourth time the promotion will hold a pay-per-view card in Canada.
UFC 83 and UFC 97 both took place in Montreal, Quebec, and featured the two largest crowds in North American MMA history. UFC 113, the third event in Canada, will take place on May 8.
UFC light heavyweight trailblazers Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz are tentatively slated to clash in the main event at UFC 115 in Vancouver. However, UFC President Dana White has also announced a 205-pound meeting between fellow pioneers Randy Couture and Rich Franklin, which is expected to replace Liddell-Ortiz III should either fighter be unable to compete.
Other previously announced bouts include Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Pat Barry, Gilbert Yvel vs. Ben Rothwell, Martin Kampmann vs. Paulo Thiago, Tyson Griffin vs. Rory MacDonald, James Wilks vs. Peter Sobotta, Mike Pyle vs. Jesse Lennox, Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman, and Canadian prospect Claude Patrick against a yet-to-be-announced adversary.
