According to fresh reports, the date for the biggest boxing bout in recent history has finally been agreed upon.
The Sunday Telegraph in England reports that Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather have agreed to take to the ring in May this year, in a match set to be worth $250 million -- the richest in boxing history -- at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
"A source close to the Filipino boxer [Pacquiao] and congressman revealed to The Sunday Telegraph that Pacquiao completed his contractual agreements on Saturday and that Mayweather is set to sign," The Telegraph's Gareth A. Davies said.
"Manny has 100 percent signed his side of the deal," the source reportedly said.
"It is now over to Mayweather to close the deal and announce the fight."
The newspaper said Mayweather may confirm reports of the May 2 fight during the NBA All-Star weekend.
The two champion boxers have been in official (and unofficial) discussions about the potential of a fight this year, but haven't been able to reach an agreement. That is until now, if these reports are to be believed.
The two fighters met in person and exchanged numbers when both sat courtside at an NBA game at the end of last month, but confusion and conflicting reports have emerged since then.
