Mexican boxing great Erik Morales won a piece of a fourth title Saturday night, stopping late replacement Pablo Cesar Cano in a junior welterweight bout.

Morales, the last fighter to beat Manny Pacquiao, battered and bloodied Cano before the fight was stopped after the 10th round with blood streaming down the side of Cano's face from a cut next to his left eye.

Morales, who retired in 2007 only to come back three years later, was coming off a loss to Marcos Maidana in his last fight. Cano, who replaced an ill Lucas Matthysse just last week, fought hard but was outclassed by Morales for much of the fight.

''Once I got my pace I dominated him from my experience,'' Morales said. ''I'm really happy for the fourth world title, but it was more difficult than I thought it would be.''

Morales improved to 52-7 with 36 knockouts, while Cano fell to 22-1-1.

The fight was on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s 147-pound title bout against Victor Ortiz.
