Former heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev earned a comfortable unanimous decision over Kali Meehan in a WBA title eliminator.

The victory makes Chagaev the mandatory challenger for David Haye, who has been trying to work out a deal to fight Wladimir Klitschko in a lucrative unification bout.

Chagaev bounced back from a punishing loss to Klitschko to improve to 26-1, with one draw.

He dominated Saturday's bout against the 40-year-old Meehan, who tried to land a knockout punch in the final round but never managed to get Chagaev in trouble.
