The World Boxing Council has handed the father of Japanese
flyweight Koki Kameda a 90-day suspension for an outburst following
his son's defeat to Thailand's Pongsaklek Wonjongkam last month.
The suspension, handed down in Mexico City, forbids Shiro
Kameda from entering boxing venues for 90 days, applied from March
28, Kyodo news agency reported Wednesday.
Shiro Kameda, 44, launched a verbal tirade against fight
officials after his son lost to Pongsaklek in Tokyo on March 27.
The Japan Boxing Commission on Monday voided Kameda's corner
license, effectively banning him from events in Japan. In 2007,
Kameda had his corner license suspended indefinitely for
encouraging his other son, Daiki, to fight dirty in a flyweight
bout.
