Kurt Busch arrives in Charlotte after qualifying at Indy

Kurt Busch was all smiles late Saturday afternoon at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he was preparing to qualify for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race (7 p.m., FOX Sports 1).
Saturday was one of the biggest days in the already impressive career of the 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion.
Earlier in the day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Busch qualified for his first Indianapolis 500, posting an excellent four-lap qualifying average speed of 229.960 miles per hour in his Andretti Autosport Dallara-Honda.
Busch's speed, 10th fastest on the day, locked him into the 500 field somewhere between 10th and 30th position. He narrowly missed being one of the so-called "Fast Nine" who will compete for the pole tomorrow, but Busch knows he's locked in to the big race.
On top of that, Busch made the infield-to-infield journey from IMS to Charlotte Motor Speedway in one hour and 31 minutes, getting him to all-star drivers' meeting in plenty of time. It was a good rehearsal for May 25, when Busch will attempt to do the Indy 500/Coca-Cola 600 double.
