Kasey Kahne started on the pole with a very good racecar. Then, suddenly, he said the car got extremely loose, and it jumped sideways. The No. 9 team was concerned that they had a flat tire. It was loose, but they battled to stay inside the top 10. During the seventh caution, Kahne and the pit crew were very happy, and they made no adjustments. He was very confident in his car and crew so when he was a bit loose getting into the corners, he knew he had one more pit stop to make. "Don't play games with Tony (Stewart)," spotter Kole Kahne told his cousin. "Race your own race."

Before the final pit stop during the ninth caution, Kasey said, "I'm loose getting in. Help me there." So they dropped the track bar half a round. "We just kept working on it," team director Kenny Francis said. "We had to just get the track bar down a little bit. We went the wrong way. We tried wedge (in a pit stop during the 2nd caution), and that didn't work so we went the other way." Kahne's second win of the season came from the pole, just like his Atlanta win did. But it wasn't wire to wire as he got a little excited early when the car got bad loose on him. "I couldn't believe we were that loose at the start and just took us a while to get going," Kahne said. "Kenny Francis made some great adjustments to our Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger. The final run there was the best the car had been all day." Kahne also expressed concern about his restarts, but in the end, he accepted congratulations in Victory Lane with a big smile. "It was a heck of a battle with Tony (Stewart) there," Kahne continued. "I knew he wanted to hold me off because if he could beat me into the pits, he had a better shot at beating us out.

"The pit crew didn't let that happen so it's just a privilege to drive for Ray Evernham. The engines ran great, and I thank everybody at the shop. These guys do a great job."
