Danica Patrick, Lewis Hamilton, Tony Stewart All Drove Same Car

When Danica Patrick crashed her primary car at Martinsville Speedway during practice on Friday, her Stewart-Haas Racing team gave her a used car as a replacement. But not just any used car. This ride has had the likes of Tony Stewart and Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel.

When Danica Patrick crashed her primary car at Martinsville Speedway during practice on Friday, her Stewart-Haas Racing team gave her a used car as a replacement.

But not just any used car.

Chassis No. 14-525, the car Danica will drive in Sunday's Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500, has a long and illustrious history.

For one thing, it's one of the oldest cars in the SHR fleet, dating back to the team's maiden season of 2009.

Team co-owner/driver Tony Stewart drove the No. 14-525 in its first race, when it finished third here at Martinsville in March 2009.

In September of that year, Stewart drove it to a ninth-place finish at Dover.

In 2010, 14-525 appeared only in the two Richmond NASCAR Sprint Cup races, finishing 23rd in the spring race and 16th in the late summer one.

The last time the car was used before this weekend?

That would be June 14, 2011, when Formula 1 World Driving Champion Lewis Hamilton drove it at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International as part of Mobil 1's "Seat Swap" with Stewart, who drove the McLaren MP 4-23 Hamilton used to win the 2008 Formula 1 title.

Before this season started, No. 14-525 was re-bodied as a Chevrolet SS, converted to Generation-6 specs and added as a backup to Danica's fleet.

So without question, No. 14-525 has some miles on it. On Sunday, Danica will see if she can use it to equal or better her 12th-place finish here in the spring, her second-best finish this season, behind only her eighth-place run in the Daytona 500.
