'Fast & Furious 7' gets release date, Walker and Rousey still star
UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is preparing for her showdown against heated rival Miesha Tate this weekend at UFC 168, but for several weeks prior to the bout she traveled to Atlanta where she filmed scenes for her role in the upcoming film 'Fast & Furious 7'.
The film production has gone on hiatus since Rousey's time on set due to the tragic death of co-star Paul Walker. Fellow star Vin Diesel revealed on Monday that the movie has now been pushed back until April 10, 2015 to allow filmmakers time to make the necessary changes after Walker's passing.
Rousey finished her filming prior to heading into training camp and Diesel posted a picture from the set where he shared space with the UFC women's bantamweight champion. Rousey has been unable to confirm her role in the upcoming movie, but it's expected she will get ample time on screen.
Rousey joins former Strikeforce and Elite XC fighter Gina Carano as part of the 'Fast & Furious' franchise following Carano's appearance in the sixth movie of the series. 'Fast & Furious 6' pulled nearly $800 million in the box office worldwide during its theatrical release.
As of now with 'Fast & Furious 7' on hold while producers make necessary changes to the script and filming schedules, it's unknown if Rousey will have to go back and re-do any scenes or if her part remains a wrap.
Universal Pictures did confirm on Monday that Walker will remain the co-star in the upcoming movie and his scenes filmed prior to his death will still be part of the film.
'Fast & Furious 7' will open nationwide in theaters on April 10, 2015.
