Watch Jozy Altidore make MLS playoff history in wild Eastern Conference final

Toronto FC came into Wednesday’s Eastern Conference final with some ground to make up. Toronto were already one goal down in the series heading into the second leg, and then Montreal scored again, putting Toronto further in the hole.

But in a wild eight-minute stretch Toronto scored twice on set pieces to claw their way back, with Jozy Altidore scoring a goal to pull the two-leg series level and one step closer to a spot in the MLS Cup:

It was a big moment -- Altidore pulled the series equal, but because Toronto scored twice on the road in Montreal last week, Altidore’s goal put Toronto ahead on tiebreakers. But more than that, it set a new record in the MLS playoffs: Altidore became the first player to score in five straight playoff games.

It doesn't hurt either that the header comes from an impossibly tight angle and seems to slip through the Montreal defense by the narrowest of margins.

It was just one more moment in what became in instant classic match as Toronto FC beat the Montreal Impact in extra time. It had a fierce rivalry, great goals, pouring rain, high stakes, extra time and even a new record. That's what every playoff game should feel like.
