Real Madrid's goal scoring streak hits an astonishing 50 matches

Real Madrid took down Alaves, 3-0, on Sunday, which was entirely unsurprising. Also unsurprising: that Real Madrid scored.

With Karim Benzema's 31st minute opening tally, Real Madrid's streak of matches with a goal reached an astonishing 50. That's 50 (!!!) straight games with a goal. For real.

The Merengues already held the Spanish record for consecutive matches in all competitions with a goal, so it's not as if they're passing anyone up at this point, but every game they add to their mark is something special. And when they hit landmark numbers like 50, you have to stop and consider just how incredible what they're doing is.

It's easy to dismiss Real Madrid's barrage of goals as something to be expected from a team with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Alvaro Morata and Benzema. After all, how does a team with that much talent not score every game? Then you remember that all of those players have missed time with injuries, and the Merengues didn't skip a beat. You also realize that Real Madrid have had teams with Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Raul and any number of other amazing players, while Barcelona have had Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, not to mention Ronadinhlo and Johan Cruyff before, but none of those teams scored in 50 straight.

This team is something else. It's 50 straight with a goal ... and counting.
