Liverpool have made more in transfer sales than any European club since 2010

Liverpool have made more off transfers than anyone in Europe between 2010-2016, beating out the likes of Valencia, Juventus, Benfica and Porto to claim the top spot, according to CIES Football Observatory. The Merseysiders pulled an astounding €442m in income from big-5 league clubs (Spain, England, Italy, Germany, France) over that period.

The Reds have undergone huge turnover over the last few years, so it makes sense that they're high on the list of transfer income. The crazy part though? They made nearly HALF of that income from selling Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling alone.

Valencia trail Liverpool by €10 million in second place, while Juventus edge out Benfica in third with €415m to the Portuguese side's €414m. FC Porto round out the top 5 with a respectable figure of €382m, but the next English team on the list is Tottenham Hotspur in seventh place, having pulled in €369m over the same period.

Despite their massive sales income, Liverpool's overall transfer balance is still negative, at -€221m (not including sales to non big-5 league clubs). That pales in comparison to Manchester City's -€777m, Manchester United's -€659m, and Chelsea's -€513m.

Of course, this is all just transfers fees and doesn't take into account wages, which matters just as much, if not more.
