Juventus injury problems get worse as Dani Alves breaks fibula

Juventus' injury list continues to grow as the club confirm that Brazilian defender Dani Alves has broken his fibula in the 3-1 loss to Genoa.

Alves was withdrawn 13 minutes from full time, forcing Juventus to play a man down having used all three of their substitutions already. He was immediately taken to the hospital where it was discovered he had fractured the fibula bone in his left leg.

As it stands, Stephan Lichtsteiner would be the man to replace Alves, whose injury could keep him out for six weeks or even longer.

Juve will also have to do without their best player of the last few weeks, Leonardo Bonucci, who also went down with an injury, straining the flexor muscles in his thigh.

The Bianconeri were already without the services of Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain, Marko Pjaca, Andrea Barzagli and Mehdi Benatia due to injury, and now it gets even worse as they head into December. A tough run of matches awaits, with games against high-flying Atalanta, bitter rivals Torino, and title challengers Roma waiting in the wings.
