Copa Santander Libertadores Roundup, Apr. 7

Uruguayan club Nacional played out a scoreless draw at Ecuador’s
Cuenca on Wednesday to take a one point lead at the top of Group 6
of the Copa Libertadores.

The day’s other match between Flamengo and Universidad de
Chile in Group 8 was postponed until Thursday because of heavy rain
in Rio de Janeiro.

Cuenca needed a win to maintain a chance of qualifying for
the knockout round of 16, but failed to pierce the Nacional
defense. Nacional’s Oscar Morales was sent off in the dying minutes
of the match.

The draw left Nacional on nine points, one ahead of Banfield
of Argentina with one round of fixtures left to play. Morelia of
Mexico is third on five points, with Cuenca bottom on four.

Banfield hosts Cuenca and Morelia travels to Nacional in the
final Group 6 matches on April 21.
