From Merseyside to north London and Milan to Glasgow, some of the world’s most heated derbies have produced countless, memorable strikes over the years. But tucked away in the southeast part of Germany is the local Bavarian rivalry featuring Ingolstadt and Augsburg.
Coming into Saturday’s encounter, Augsburg had lost just once in all competitions since late November, but let their first-half lead slip away as Marvin Matip and a late Moritz Hartmann penalty completed Ingolstadt’s turnaround. A bittersweet defeat for Augsburg, but a day Konstantinos Stafylidis will never forget, however.
Augsburg’s left back broke the deadlock just 14 minutes into the fixture, latching onto a defensive clearance and producing arguably the goal of the week with this thunderbolt. Watch:
