Antoine Griezmann wants to play in U.S. for David Beckham’s team one day

European stars are asked about coming stateside to MLS all the time, and even the most lukewarm of answers can get American fans excited at the prospect. But French star Antoine Greizmann, asked about moving away from Europe, sounds genuinely interested in living in the USA someday.

"I love the States. I want to have an NBA season ticket, and go and watch each game with my children,” he told France Football. "I already see myself there.”

Greizmann’s current contract with Atletico Madrid ends in 2021, when he will be 30 years old, so MLS fans may have to wait a little while. But that extra wait might be for the best — Greizmann identified David Beckham’s pending Miami franchise as his preferred landing spot, and Beckham has run into a wall getting a stadium site finalized.

"I don't know which city yet, but why not in Beckham's franchise in Miami,” Greizmann said. "It would be the best to play under Beckham.”

It’s unclear if the Miami franchise will ever exist at this point — the league has seemingly grown impatient waiting for Beckham to figure it out — but Greizmann coming to MLS would be a huge deal for the league, which has aimed to attract more top talent, particularly in the prime of their careers.

Greizmann has been one of the world’s best players this year, after finishing just short with France in the European Championship and just short with Atletico in the Champions League. He finished No. 3 in the Ballon d’Or vote behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He also is also in the final three for FIFA’s top award, along with Messi and Ronaldo, though it’s unlikely he’ll win it.
