Rumor: Manchester United to Newcastle // Likelihood: Makes sense // The Talk: Following news Tim Krul will miss the rest of the Premier League season with a knee injury, Newcastle boss Steve McClaren has targeted Manchester United outcast Victor Valdes as a replacement, according to the Sunday People. Krul’s injury has left the Magpies with Rob Elliot as their only fit senior keeper and the former England manager is looking to solve his crisis. Former Barcelona keeper Valdes is unlikely to get any game time at Old Trafford in the near future after a bust-up with United boss Louis van Gaal. Seems like a good fit for both parties.
Rumor: AC Milan to Tottenham or Everton // Likelihood: Why not? // The Talk: Tottenham and Everton are hoping to take advantage of Keisuke Honda’s Milan frustrations by signing the midfielder in January, according to reports in Italy. The Japanese international has only made three starts so far this season and is seemingly out of Sinisa Mihajlovic’s plans at the San Siro. He even hit out at the club’s hierarchy after they blamed the club’s poor form on the players, saying: "There is no point in blaming the players. Milan have used countless players over the past few years, and this year €100m ($113million) was spent.” It remains to be seen if either of the Premier League sides could stump up the cash needed to prise him from Italy.
Rumor: Valencia to Tottenham // Likelihood: Up to the player // The Talk: Tottenham have reportedly made an offer to sign Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli on a free transfer. Other clubs, including Inter Milan, Fenerbahce and Roma, are thought to have made a bid for the player -- who is out of contract in the summer. In January he will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any side, allowing him to leave for nothing. Feghouli, who has made 129 appearances at the Mestalla, has yet to reach an agreement over a new contract with Valencia.
Juan Manuel Serrano Arce
Rumor: Dynamo Moscow to Arsenal // Likelihood: A last resort // The Talk: Russian international Aleksandr Kokorin has been linked with many top Premier League clubs over the last year and now Arsenal are thought to be keen on the 24-year-old. In two spells at Dynamo Moscow, Kokorin has managed a total of 45 goals in 193 appearances and claimed 36 caps for his national side. Having been at the forefront of Russian soccer for a few years now, it could be time for him to move abroad and Arsenal are set to table a £7million ($10.8million) offer, according to The Sun. As a relatively cheap option, it may be a deal that would appeal to Arsene Wenger.
Rumor: West Brom to Tottenham or Manchester United // Likelihood: Nailed on // The Talk: Manchester United and Tottenham are set to go head-to-head for West Brom striker Saido Berahino, according to Tuttomercatoweb. As we already know, Tottenham were keen on landing the 22-year-old from The Hawthorns last summer, but the deal fell through. Now the Red Devils have apparently shortlisted the youngster, with only Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and rookie James Wilson to call upon in the striking department. Spurs will be keen to revisit the transfer in January after new-signing Son Heung-Min picked up an injury.
Rumor: New York City FC loan to Manchester City // Likelihood: If City continues to have injury problems // The Talk: David Villa has opened up the possibility of a loan move to Manchester City, according to the Manchester Evening News. New York City FC have been ruled out of the end of season playoffs after a poor season, therefore creating the option of a temporary move away in the MLS offseason. "Since it became mathematically impossible to make the play-offs, there have been calls from all over the place," Villa is quoted as saying on Levante TV. "The hypothetical case of a loan move has been made. The truth is that there are a lot of rumors coming from everywhere, but there is nothing concrete."
Rumor: Real Madrid to Arsenal // Likelihood: Only on loan // The Talk: Arsenal hope a new approach to their pursuit of Real Madrid striker Jese will help them land the 22-year-old ahead of Chelsea. Jese is reportedly unsettled at the Bernabeu due to lack of appearances and his agent recently said: "he needs to play more." Premier League champions Chelsea had been linked with a permanent summer move for the Spaniard, but it is thought Real president Florentino Perez would prefer to loan the striker. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could be set to take him on loan, with Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud the only recognized strike options at his disposal.
Rumor: Arsenal to Paris Saint-Germain. // Likelihood: Not a chance. // The Talk: Paris Saint-Germain are set to raid Arsenal for manager Arsene Wenger -- if Laurent Blanc fails to deliver the Champions League trophy this season. Blanc has managed two quarterfinal exits in the Champions League in his two seasons in charge and this is not seen as good enough for the club’s owners, who have lavished money on the squad. According to reports in France, the Gunners boss is on a shortlist of coaches to replace Blanc should he fail to reach his targets this season. Wenger himself has come under pressure from fans after only signing Petr Cech in the summer, but it is very unlikely he will leave before the end of his contract at the Emirates.
Rumor: Valencia to Chelsea // Likelihood: Not in January // The Talk: Chelsea are believed to be readying a £50million ($77 million) move for Valencia striker Paco Alcacer. Jose Mourinho is thought to have wanted to sign the striker in the summer, but the Spanish international had no intention of leaving. At the time Alcacer said: “I’m very proud to be at Valencia and even more so because I’ve been here since I was a child." However, Mourinho has been impressed by the striker's form so far this season and could be ready to redouble his efforts to purchase the star.
Robin van Persie
Rumor: Fenerbahce to Barcelona // Likelihood: Very unlikely // The Talk: Robin van Persie hasn’t had the best few weeks for club and country, but things could be about to change, as Barcelona are reportedly planning a swoop for the Dutchman. It is thought the Spanish outfit are considering RvP as back up for Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. The former Manchester United and Arsenal goalscorer was part of the Netherlands side that failed to qualify for Euro 2016, and has been left on the bench for Fenerbahce several times this season. So any move to Champions League winners Barcelona would come as a surprise!
