While Claudio Ranieri's sacking at Leicester City might not have come as a huge shock, it still had an element of surprise. Ranieri was less than a year removed from leading the Foxes to the unlikeliest title in sports history. But Leicester were facing relegation and the club's board decided a change needed to be made.
Ranieri expressed his love of the club, players and fans in a touching letter on Friday. Amid swirling rumors of a player revolt being the impetus for the firing, a number of Leicester team members took to social media to say thanks to their ex-manager.
Kasper Schmeichel, Ranieri's former goalkeeper, was the first to break the silence.
