Neymar Jr. is the first soccer player to feature the iconic Jumpman logo on his boots. We've already seen the black colorway on his NJR x JORDAN Hypervenom collaboration, but Tuesday we got a glimpse of the new white and red look. Based on the early photos, we can't wait to see what these look like on the pitch.
Splash of color
A departure from the first iteration of the collaboration with Jordan Brand, Neymar's latest boot steers away from the monochromatic look at adds in some color. The shoe is predominately white, with a bright reddish/orange outsole and matching accents. The signature cement speckling remains, as does the large reflective swoosh.
Numbers tell the story
In addition to having his own number on the boot, Neymar requested that Michael Jordan's No. 23 also be incorporated into the new design. Jordan's number appears on the right boot on both the white and black designs. Neymar's No. 11, which he wears with Barcelona, will be stitched into the white boot. The No. 10, which he wears with Brazil, will feature in the same spot on the black cleat.
Two nice little touches on the laces pay homage to two things Neymar treasures most: His son and his country. The "DL" initials on the laces stand for Davi Lucca, while the Brazilian flag is placed adjacent. Nike hasn't set a release date for the new colorway, but have said it will be available on Nike.com
When Nike and Neymar started the collaboration, they approached Neymar and asked him which previous iteration of the Jordan Brand shoes he liked. Neymar felt a connection with the Jordan V, and the elements from that shoe can be seen in Neymar's exclusive boot. The fighter jet shark teeth have been a staple of Neymar's Hypervenom II cleats, and that design continues into the Jordan Brand collaboration. Furthermore, Jordan Brand is dropping a Neymar-inspired Jordan V Low (pictured) to bring it all full circle.
