DeAngelo Williams is the best NFL player on Twitter this offseason

DeAngelo Williams is the king of NFL Twitter this offseason. The outspoken Pittsburgh Steelers running back uses the social media platform in a way that engages fans and drives conversation in the league, and thanks to his honesty and his accessibility, he is quickly becoming the best NFL player to follow on the social media platform.

In March, Williams was one of the few who was willing to say that Peyton Manning stats-wise did not deserve to be the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback this offseason. Earlier this week, he traded barbs with Vontaze Burfict. But Williams is also a great follow for some humor and perspective as well. During a lengthy Twitter spree Friday, Williams explained why golf isn't a real sport and why he has no interest in following baseball.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has not always been pleased with Williams' tweets this offseason. The coach asked Williams -- over Twitter, of course -- to cool it after Williams' comments about Peyton Manning in March.

But that hasn't stopped Williams from tweeting even though he knows his coach is watching.

Meanwhile fans are eating it up, especially when Williams gives hot takes the way he did Friday. He is one of the few athletes on social media who is so accessible; Williams spent over an hour on Friday conducting an impromptu Q&A with fans on Twitter. It isn't the first time the running back devoted his spare time to doing so, and it likely won't be the last.

While Tomlin might want Williams to curb his social media use at times, the running back's approach to his Twitter account is just as refreshing and compelling as it can be controversial. That's what makes him the one of the best NFL players to follow.
