Donovan McNabb trashes Eagles' quarterback moves this offseason

The Philadelphia Eagles made a concerted effort to shore up the quarterback position this offseason. In fact, they may have gone a bit overboard in doing so. Not only did they sign Sam Bradford to a two-year extension, but they inked Chase Daniel to a $21 million deal to be the backup.

But they weren't done there. They traded up to No. 2 in the draft where they chose Carson Wentz. Bradford has received a vote of confidence as the starter from head coach Doug Pederson, but this is still one of the most interesting situations in the NFL.

"Interesting" isn't a word former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb would use, though. He prefers "dumb."

McNabb is echoing the thoughts that many fans (and pundits) have had about the Eagles' offseason. So much money has been poured into the quarterback position that it's left some scratching their heads. It's a matter of the Eagles having three decent quarterbacks but not one standout guy.

And by no means is McNabb taking a shot at Daniel or any of the team's players. He just doesn't see this ending well for any of them -- particularly Daniel.

The best-case scenario for the Eagles is that Bradford plays well and increases his trade value for the end of the season. If he plays poorly, the team will be forced to turn to Wentz before he's ready, which could be disastrous.
