Bowles on Jets' playoff chances: 'We definitely have to win out'

The New York Jets are 8-5 and in the middle of a three-way race for a wild-card berth, joining the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers. With three games remaining, the Jets could conceivably win out and still miss the playoffs based on tie breakers. With that in mind, Todd Bowles doesn't want to take any chances and believes his team has to go undefeated the rest of the way.

"We definitely have to win out -- and that still may not be good enough," Bowles said Thursday, via Darryl Slater of NJ.com. "As long as we're getting better by the game, I'll be happy about that."

The Jets will visit the Dallas Cowboys next, followed by meetings with the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. Winning out will be a challenge for sure, but the Jets are as hot as any team in the league, having won three in a row.

Ryan Fitzpatrick hasn't thrown an interception in three weeks and has elevated his game to another level of late. He and Brandon Marshall have been on the same page in recent weeks and look unstoppable on offense.
