The Minnesota Vikings announced Thursday that they have agreed to a contract extension with head coach Mike Zimmer. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vikings owner and chairman Zigi Wilf released this statement, via the team’s website: "Mike has instilled a very positive atmosphere over the past three years and our players have thrived under his tutelage and leadership. His focus on helping our players develop and maximize potential, individually and collectively, is critical for our current and future success.  We believe the continuity established with Mike leading our football team is a very positive step for our organization."

Zimmer is 18-14 in two seasons with the Vikings. Last season, he led the team to an 11-5 record and the franchise’s first NFC North title since the 2009 season.
