Martellus Bennett dismisses Roger Goodell as 'Pringle guy' when discussing chips

If you didn't know already, New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett and his brother Michael of the Seattle Seahawks are two of the funniest, most outspoken guys in the league.

On Thursday, Martellus dropped another good quote -- as opposed to a Belichickian "We're playing Cleveland" -- when asked if the Patriots would be playing with an extra chip on their shoulder this Sunday when Tom Brady returns from his four-game Deflategate suspension. Via CSNNE.com's Phil Perry:

"You can't play this game without a chip on your shoulder. From all the players -- guys that got cut, guys that got traded, guys that feel like they got passed up by other teams -- when you play this game you gotta have a chip.

"Everybody's chip might be a little bit different. Like Lays. You might be a barbecue guy, you might be a sour cream and onion guy, but as long as you have your chip that's what gets you where you need."

When asked specifically about commissioner Roger Goodell's treatment of Brady and if that caused an extra chip:

"Nah," Bennett said. "Goodell looks like a Pringle guy. I don't consider those chips."

I'm not sure if he's zinging Goodell or what, but that's a clever response. And perhaps the question of whether Pringles are chips or not can overtake "Is a hot dog a sandwich?" debate that consumed sports media for too long.
