49ers plan to try to trade Jim Harbaugh in offseason

As bad as things seem in the Bay Area right now, Jim Harbaugh will likely coach the rest of the season with the San Francisco 49ers.

According to FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, the 49ers plan to trade Jim Harbaugh in the offseason for a draft pick. Harbaugh has one year left on his five-year, $25 million deal.

Speculation about Harbaugh's future with the 49ers has run rampant after a 19-3 home loss on Thanksgiving to the archrival Seahawks. After the game, CEO Jed York tweeted an apology to the fans, something that was interpreted by many as a shot at Harbaugh. General manager Trent Baalke's daughter also tweeted that offensive coordinator Greg Roman should be fired. It was later deleted.

The 49ers, who are 7-5 and are third in the NFC West, have gone to three straight NFC title games and one Super Bowl with Harbaugh at the helm, but are on the outside looking in on the playoff race this season in a crowded NFC.

Glazer reported in Week 1 that there was no chance, even with a Super Bowl run, that Harbaugh would be back with the 49ers, and that looks to be coming to fruition.
