Jameis Winston receives an early comparison to Aaron Rodgers
As a rookie quarterback, there is probably a short list of quarterbacks who you'd probably love to be compared to. One of those quarterbacks has to be Aaron Rodgers. According to Eric Adelson of Yahoo! Sports, the newest quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just received that comparison.
Yes, Jameis Winston was recently compared to Rodgers by his center, former Green Bay Packer, Evan Smith.
"I've only been around two other quarterbacks," Smith told Yahoo Sports. "I played with one who was really good. He reminds me of a very young version of him."
Smith did explain that while Winston "hasn't taken a snap yet in this league," that the potential is obvious.
"When I first got to Green Bay, you could see the talent there, you could see Aaron was starting to take off as a superstar. You can tell Jameis has that potential." Smith stated.
That's quite the comparison before even playing a preseason game, but hey, there's no better way to get excited for a season than with a bold statement or two.
