Jaguars owner insists coach Gus Bradley's job is safe after awful Thursday loss

By all appearances, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gus Bradley is on the hot seat -- and the temperature keeps rising.

Earlier this week, Jaguars owner Shad Khan reportedly sat in on a team meeting, which is never a good sign. That alone would be reason for Bradley to worry, but the Jags followed up Khan's fact-finding mission with an embarrassing Thursday night loss to the Titans in which Jacksonville trailed 27-0 at halftime.

Add it all up, and it's time for the dreaded "vote of confidence" from ownership for Bradley.

Moments after the Titans beat the Jaguars 36-22, Khan told the Times-Union: “Actions speak louder than words. Very little for me to say.”

Khan then said Bradley would not be fired despite the Jaguars’ embarrassing performance in which it appeared the players quit on the fourth-year coach.

The Jaguars are 14-41 since Bradley took over as a first-time head coach in 2013, the second-worst winning percentage for any NFL coach with a minimum of 50 games. In those three-plus seasons, Jacksonville's best single-season record stands at 5-11, a mark the Jags achieved last year.

Bradley's Jaguars rank in the bottom third of the league in scoring and total yardage on offense; on the other side of the ball, Jacksonville is in the bottom five in points and yards allowed. Third-year quarterback Blake Bortles has continued to struggle after many anticipated a potential step forward this season. He is completing 60 percent of his passes (a career high, for what that's worth) for 272 yards per game to go with 12 total TDs and 9 INTs in seven starts.
