Dez Bryant clarifies his injury status for Sunday's game against the 49ers

Despite some initial reports to the contrary, Dez Bryant still might play on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers — but he recognizes the risks inherent in returning to the field too soon.

On Friday, Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told reporters that Bryant remains day-to-day with a hairline fracture in his right knee. Bryant, though, sounded as if he'd play only if he's certain he won't do any further damage.

The Cowboys wide receiver also spoke to his failure to receive an MRI earlier this week, confirming Garrett's previous explanation:

Of course, it sounds like Bryant wasn't the only one worried about a potentially serious injury:

With all that said, don't expect Bryant to be available for your fantasy team on Sunday. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Bryant is unlikely to play, which dovetails with, you know, common sense. The Cowboys visit the 49ers; while San Francisco beat the Rams, who beat the Seahawks, the transitive property probably doesn't apply here. The Niners are a bad football team. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott can take care of business while Bryant heals.

It's not like this has been a great season for Bryant so far, anyway. He has 11 catches (on 23 targets) for 150 yards and a TD. Not in a game — total. Between his limited production and the possibility of an injury scare, you might be able to sell high if you have a wide receiver glut of your own and one of your fellow fantasy players is searching for some Dez insurance.
