RG3 wants to help Josh Gordon, but says 'you can't tell a grown man what to do'

Robert Griffin III is now a part of the same NFL organization as his former Baylor teammate Josh Gordon, and the new Browns quarterback is hoping to help his good friend get back on the right path.

RG3 has reached out to Gordon since his rejected reinstatement bid, and said he's not ready to give up on the troubled receiver.

"Josh is family, so I've had contact with Josh since the announcement and he knows, I'm sure he'll see this or watch this, he knows I'm always there for him no matter what happens, but I'm rooting for him,'' Griffin told reporters during a press conference at voluntary minicamp.

"I hope he understands the situation that he's in and what's at stake and I think he does, but it's up to him ultimately to make that decision. You can not tell a grown man what to do.''

Gordon, who remains suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy, failed another drug test last month. As a result, the NFL denied his recent application for reinstatement, and he won't be able to reapply until Aug. 1.

Since signing with the Browns, Griffin has said that he hopes to someday share the field with his college teammate again. But Gordon's future with the Browns remains extremely cloudy, and many feel that his hiatus from the league could be permanent. But despite all of Gordon's issues, RG3 says he plans to stand by his friend.
