Chargers add local product Rettig to backup QB competition

The Chargers signed a former high school star from up the Pacific Coast Highway.

Chase Rettig grew up about an hour away from San Diego in nearby San Clemente. He'll return to the West Coast after a four-year career at Boston College and a stint with the Green Bay Packers.

Rettig completed 685-of-1,242 attempts (55.25) for 8,263 yards and 52 touchdowns during his time at BC. He left as the fourth-best quarterback in program history in passing yards and touchdowns.
