Cam Newton says Steph Curry isn't the best player, LeBron James is

The NFL MVP doesn't think the NBA MVP is the best player in his league. Wonder if the feeling is mutual.

Carolina Panthers fan Steph Curry has shown Cam Newton love, but the QB is pals with LeBron James as well, and when asked who's better, Cam picked LeBron over Steph, but the Warriors over the Cavs in the NBA Finals.

"A person asked me, 'Well, is Steph Curry the best basketball player on the planet?' " Newton said Thursday on WFNZ-AM's "The Mac Attack" show. "I said no. I said Steph Curry is the best basketball player on the best team on the planet.

"I still think LeBron is [the best player]. He's 6-7, athletic, can do anything on the court. But LeBron is not on the best team. Going back to what I was saying, the power of team will always be better than the power of skill."

Sounds like the story of Super Bowl 50. 

At least Cam had the good sense to admit that when it comes to hoops, the NBA MVP is better than the NFL MVP.

Asked whether he could beat Steph 1-on-1, Cam said "The competitive Cam? Absolutely! The realistic Cam says no way."
