Cam Newton salutes Colin Kaepernick for taking a 'stand for injustice'

Cam Newton's Carolina Panthers beat Colin Kaepernick's San Francisco 49ers over the weekend, and a photo of the two quarterbacks interacting after the game went viral, sparking rumors of a rift between the two over Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem.

Newton was asked about Kaepernick's protest before the season began and gave a very neutral response, telling reporters "Who am I to say that it's wrong? Who am I to say that it's right?" 

In a lengthy Instagram post Wednesday, Newton saluted Kaepernick and said that the two will "always be good."

Newton's original post is difficult to read as he uses his own special font that replaces letters with special characters, but here is the transcript:

Newton also addressed the consequences of speaking out as a public figure in a press conference Wednesday.
