Bills S Bacarri Rambo named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Published Nov. 18, 2015 10:27 a.m. ET

The Buffalo Bills got a much-needed win over the New York Jets on Thursday night, vaulting them into a wild-card berth ... for now. The offense wasn't clicking as it had in the previous game, but the defense was a turnover machine.

Safety Bacarri Rambo forced three of the four turnovers against the Jets and earned himself AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance.

He not only had a game-sealing interception, but he also forced two fumbles (recovering one) -- one on special teams and one on defense. It was the best game of his three-year career thus far, and incredibly, he didn't even get the start in the game.

Rambo is the second Bills player to earn the award this season, joining linebacker Preston Brown from Week 3. He's also the first Bills defensive back to win it since Jairus Byrd in 2012.

He wasn't the starter prior to Thursday night's game, but his performance could vault him into the starting lineup next to Leodis McKelvin.
