Ben Roethlisberger rips Steelers after stunning loss to Cowboys

Published Dec. 9, 2016 1:00 p.m. ET

The Pittsburgh Steelers were in position to hand the Cowboys their second loss of the season and snap their then three-game losing streak Sunday. Ben Roethlisberger connected with Antonio Brown for a 15-yard touchdown pass with 42 seconds left in the game to take a one-point lead.

It appeared Dallas had a slim chance of even getting into field-goal range to pull off a stunning win. Instead, Ezekiel Elliott ended all the drama, scoring on a 32-yard run to cap a five-play, 75-yard drive.

As the Cowboys celebrated their eighth consecutive win, the Steelers were seething. And it appears no one was more upset than Big Ben, who didn’t mince words about his team’s performance.

"We are undisciplined and not accountable," Roethlisberger said, via ESPN. "That's why (the Cowboys) are one of the best in the business and we're not right now."

But despite his honest assessment, Roethlisberger wasn’t pointing fingers at specific individuals.

"I don't know. Is it players? Is it coaches? I don't know, but we need to get there quick."

Pittsburgh’s fourth consecutive loss put a damper on a spectacular individual performance by Roethlisberger, who completed 37 of 46 attempts for a season-high 408 yards and three touchdowns. The Steelers hope to get back on track against the winless Browns on Sunday.
