Ravens will sign Trent Richardson if he reaches ‘physical benchmark’

After failed stints with the Browns, Colts and Raiders, 2012 No. 3 overall draft pick Trent Richardson appears to be on the verge of getting another chance to resurrect his career.

Richardson, who was released by the Raiders last August and last played a regular-season game for the Colts in 2014, is expected to be signed by the Ravens. But Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday morning at the league’s annual coaches breakfast that the team wants Richardson to get in better shape before adding him to the roster.

The Ravens reportedly has an unofficial agreement already in place with Richardson, who has never averaged more than the 3.6 yards per carry he put up with the Browns in his rookie season.

Richardson, 25, was traded to the Colts during the 2013 season and spent the rest of that season and 2014 in Indianapolis. He is regarded as one of the biggest busts in recent draft history.
