Cardinals cheerleader Megan Welter, also Iraq vet, charged with alleged assault

An Arizona Cardinals cheerleader, who also served in the Army in Iraq, has been charged with alleged assault on her boyfriend.

According to FOX 10 in Phoenix, 29-year-old Megan Welter was arrested on July 20 and charged with disorderly conduct, alleged assault and criminal damage.

The site reports that Welter told police she and her boyfriend went to a Scottsdale bar to celebrate her birthday and had been dating for six months. The report states that they later argued over past relationships and “a police report says Welter hit, scratched and pulled the hair of her unidentified boyfriend.”

According to a report from the station, Welter called police to report the incident, but when the officers arrived the boyfriend presented officers with a cell-phone video of the incident.

The report adds that police did not know as of Thursday whether she had an attorney.

Welter entered officer training school in 2007 and served a 16-month tour in Iraq.
