WATCH: Odell Beckham Jr. has busy day in first joint-practice with Bengals

Published Aug. 11, 2015 8:30 p.m. ET

The New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals held their first joint-practice on Tuesday, and Giants quarterback Eli Manning got things going to his favorite target early and often. Odell Beckham Jr. gave the Bengals' cornerbacks an up-close look at what makes him so hard to cover.

Beckham has been on a pitch count throughout training camp as he recovers from a hamstring injury he suffered during spring practices. Today was no different. Beckham was used sparingly in 11-on-11 team drills, but when he was on the field, he did not disappoint.

When the Bengals pressed tight in one-on-one man coverage, Beckham blew by Bengals starting cornerback Adam Jones. The pass was overthrown, but Beckham beat Jones by several steps. Jones was flagged for holding on the play. After the play was over, Jones complained that Beckham had committed a false start penalty that was not called.

Later in practice, Beckham ran a back-shoulder fade against Jones again, in one-on-one drills, and this time he came away with the grab.

When the Bengals played off coverage on Beckham, he took a quick hitch from Manning for positive yardage during the 11-on-11 team drills.

Beckham also won against Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick. After showcasing his skills on several routes, the Giants called a quick slant for Beckham and he created "a few yards" of separation from Kirkpatrick.

There has been no indication when Beckham will see his practice pitch count reduced, but the Giants see no reason to rush him back. He is about as polished as a second year wide receiver could possibly be as a route runner. He showed it off in limited reps at practice on Tuesday and throughout the course of his rookie season in 2014.
