Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is set to make $22 million in 2017 - but that will make him only the sixth-highest paid QB in the league, behind the likes of Carson Palmer, Kirk Cousins and Joe Flacco.
Rodgers addressed his contract status publicly on Tuesday and noted that an extension to his current deal -- which runs through 2019 -- should take care of itself.
On Wednesday's episode of "Undisputed," Skip Bayless and Shanno Sharpe reacted to Rodgers' comments.
Aaron Rodgers: "I know my value"
This is typical Aaron Rodgers
“Typical Aaron Rodgers, the biggest diva in all of sports.
"He can’t do it the way Tom Brady does it and negotiate quietly and privately. Nope, he’s got to cause a big distraction, create a big uproar in his locker room by stating the obvious. He’s ‘indispensable to this team.’ You have to say that? Really? After … this is going to be his 13th year in the league?”
Shannon Sharpe: “Sometimes you have to remind people.”
Skip Bayless: “Oh, you have to remind people you’re indispensable? You know, that is interesting, because he’s only won one ring in 13 years. Wow, that’s not that great, right?”

Rodgers just caused an uproar in Green Bay
“Wow, you did lose the NFC Championship game 44-21, so you’re indispensable and you have to remind everyone. ‘We’ve got $20 million in cap room, and I signed in 2013 and I thought I gave Green Bay a really good deal.’
Well why did you sign? You have three years left on your deal, really? So now you’ve got to cause a big uproar in your locker room just because you’re Aaron bleeping Rodgers, right? And you’re going to defend that, [Shannon]? That’s how you’d want your quarterback to handle it?”

All quarterbacks are arrogant, Rodgers is just bad at hiding it
“Skip, we know who and what Aaron Rodgers is. Why are you letting this [upset you]? I’ve said this for the longest time, and people don’t get this, they don’t understand it. The most arrogant, selfish players in all of professional sports are quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers is just terrible at hiding it.
"Aaron Rodgers thinks the exact same way as every other great quarterback, you know why, Skip? Because they play in the most popular sport, they play the most glamorous position, and they play the most important position. So how else do you think he’s supposed to think?”
Skip Bayless: “So why doesn’t Tom Brady ever come across as arrogant?”
Shannon Sharpe: “He hides it better.”

Rodgers deserves to be the highest-paid QB
“I ain’t got no problem with Aaron Rodgers doing the double-check. I ain’t got not problem when he calls people out. I’ve got no problem with that, because that’s who he is. At the end of the day, I want the player to be who and what he is. Aaron Rodgers is arrogant, I’ve got no problems with that.
"Pay that man his money! If Mike Glennon can get $15 million, he should get double what Glennon got. He’s the sixth-highest paid in terms of salary this year. Are you trying to tell me Aaron Rodgers is the sixth-best quarterback in all of football. No!”

Rodgers had to go public
“OK, in 12 years in the league, he has one ring. And he wants to be the highest-paid quarterback?”
Shannon Sharpe: “He deserves it!”
Skip Bayless: “Why wouldn’t he just go to Mike McCarthy privately, or Ted Thompson privately and just say, ‘Hey, I think it’s time that you take care of me.’ Why would you make a stink publicly about it?”
Shannon Sharpe: “He’s saying, ‘You know why I did this? Because Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson, you didn’t come to me. You know I’m due this money. Like Rihanna say, ‘Pay me what you owe me.’
"Pay the man his money, Skip. You know he’s worth $26 million, with about $80 guaranteed.”
