Roush Rookie Watch: Luck turns around season
Todd Kluever diaries
We finished 18th at Dover last week, which was kind of disappointing; but we tried a new set-up that we learned a lot about. Now we can fine-tune it, which will be great at some of the upcoming tracks like Nashville and Kentucky. I was still the highest rookie; so I'm gaining some ground on the rookie points, too. I think part of it might have been my request for the fans to send me some good luck charms. I was really surprised at how many cool things I received. I got everything from a box of Lucky Charms cereal to a guitar pick that a guy caught in the audience at a Cheap Trick concert. I think the lucky charm that meant the most to me was a horseshoe my family sent me that had hung in my Grandpa's barn in Wisconsin for years. I have it in my locker on the transporter; so hopefully it will bring us luck everywhere we go. Of course the hard work my team has put in was also a big factor. Having a new car made a big difference. We've really struggled with some of the older "hand-me-down" cars we started the season with. Now we've got our own new cars, which are as competitive as the cars my Cup teammates have. I expect really good things for the rest of the season. With the jump we've made in the points in just two weeks, I know we will be in the top 10 by the end of the season. We might stumble a couple of times, but we're going to figure it out; and we're really going to be stellar by the end of the season.
