Impact Bowman's return to action after a four-race absence due to vertigo would not go as planned for the No. 48 team. He'd struggle at the back of the pack to finish 30th in stage 1. On lap 160 Bowman would get collected in a four-car crash that would be set off when Shane van Gisbergen spun out of control and collected other cars. Bowman's No. 48 team would attempt to fix the car behind the wall but it would soon be ruled too significant damage to repair and he'd be hit with the disappointing DNF at Bristol.

Alex Bowman Back on Track at Bristol After Being Medically Cleared

Returning at Bristol Bowman (illness) has been medically cleared and will race in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports announced on Thursday.

Impact Bowman had been initially ruled out this week back on March 17 when a statement was released that he would be shut down for three races. After an off week for the Cup Series and some testing on Tuesday, Bowman will is feeling much better and will return to the No. 48 car this weekend. Bowman missed four total races due to vertigo symptoms, one race was driven by Anthony Alfredo and three were by Justin Allgaier.

Set to miss at least 3 more races Bowman (illness) will miss at least the next three races as he continues to experiences vertigo symptoms, Hendrick Motorsports announced in a statement on Tuesday.

Impact Bowman will miss at least races at Darlington, Martinsville and Bristol due to the ongoing symptoms. Justin Allgaier, who drove the No. 48 Chevrolet last week, will continue to fill in during that stretch. This all but certainly will eliminate Bowman from the postseason given the removal of the "Win and In" format for the 2026 season. It's a shame considering this was also a contract year for Bowman. Hopefully he is able to return to the seat later this season.
