An MLB minor league team renamed itself the 'Baby Cakes'

In a drastic turn of events, the New Orleans Zephyrs, the Miami Marlins' Triple-A affiliate that plays in the Pacific Coast League, have been rebranded as the New Orleans Baby Cakes.

You're probably thinking "what on earth is this?" While we can't blame you, there is some precedence set here, as the "King Cake Baby" featured above has been a staple at New Orleans Pelicans games during the Mardi Gras season when the King Cake dessert is consumed by the masses.

The franchise showed off their new threads after the official announcement on Tuesday afternoon:

Fans voted on the team's website to determine the franchise's new name, with the three finalist options being "Baby Cakes," "Night Owls" and "Tailgators."
