Rain cancels play at Puerto Rico Open

Heavy rain has forced organizers to cancel play on the opening day
of the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open.

Steady downpours Thursday washed out the first round on the
7,526-yard Trump International course in Rio Grande. Six inches of
rain had fallen on the oceanside course by early afternoon.

The first round was rescheduled for Friday morning.

Before play was suspended at 7:19 a.m., Skip Kendall hit an
eagle on the par-4 10th hole. Eighteen players teed off before the
suspension.

The $3.5 million tournament in Puerto Rico is being held
opposite the World Golf Championship at Doral, which has attracted
the best players from around the world.
